Fall Sports

Here we go another year! Hannah is in 8th grade at Jefferson Middle School.

Zane is a sophomore at Rock Bridge High School.

Hannah tried out for and made a club volleyball team! She is playing for the 573 National 14s (14 year olds) team. They practice in Jeff City and Columbia so we're happy we're only driving far once a week instead of twice like last year. She'll be a middle hitter and has already developed a jump serve!

JMS Volleyball is going strong and the 8th grade A team is undefeated so far!

Zane played the Rock Bridge Summer League and is now getting ready for the RB regular season with the PBA Fall League.

Go hard, rest hard.

The pond Mason and I walk the dogs by most mornings.

I'm lucky to have friends who work at Hannah's school and send me fun pictures during the day sometimes. Here's Hannah wrapping her volleyball coach like a mummy during an assembly.

Eureka Springs, AK

Before the chaos of everyone starting school, we took a trip to Beaver Lake in Arkansas with some friends. The AirBnB did not have lake access, but did have a phenomenal view! One of the favorite activities was sitting by the large window and looking out through the telescope.

We rented a boat for a few hours one day. Tubing, swimming, and sunning ensued.

Zane unintentionally tried underwater tubing. It didn't go well.

On our way into town, we stopped by Thorncrown Chapel to marvel at the architecture.

The "parking meter" in Eureka Springs is completely on the honor system. You stick $5 in the compartment corresponding with your spot. There is nothing to put in your car and no receipt.

It's a funky town with Victorian buildings and a Bohemian vibe.

Zane not cooperating for a photo in front of Humpty Dumpty.

Our dinner spot was perfect.

The ladies took a walk down a path near the rental house to see if we could find the shore. We did it!

Iowa + School Starting

We finally had a free weekend to go to Iowa for some R&R. We fished, swam in the lake, relaxed in the hot tub, took (hot) walks, saw the renovations, and watched movies. Always fun, never long enough.

I had to be back at work in mid July and took it upon myself to spruce up the display cases in the Performing Arts lobby. They've sat untouched since I started 2 years ago and it made me sad that every time we had a band, choir, theatre, or orchestra performance the patrons were greeted with blank cases instead of a showcase of what our department does. A project ensued! This is how it started.

By the end, the words were updated, shelves hung, and now there are pieces that represent each department within the performing arts - such as awards, artwork, items made by students, and photos. It's a much brighter, better representation!

There are 4 display cases on either side of the main display case and one each has been dedicated to band, choir, orchestra, and choir. There is a photo mosaic of students past and present along with a schedule of events for that group for the whole year.
A new style for Ozzy?

Over the summer, the costumer for the theatre department at school hosted sewing nights for myself and 2 other secretaries. We each ended up making a table runner and having a blast in the process! I now have more confidence in my sewing abilities and am no longer scared to change the needle on my machine.
