We took a trip out to Delaware to see Oma and Opa and other family! Our first adventure was to take the ferry from Lewes, DE to Cape May, NJ to see Unkie T! Unkie T was our roommate for a while in Portland, but Mason and Tyler go all the way back to high school. Tyler grew up in Cape May and we got the real tour.
Our Zane is named after Tyler's dad, Zane. This was their first time meeting.
Mason and Tyler at Tyler's brother's house in Cape May. They were preparing a graduation party for his niece and we were thankful to be able to pop in for a bit!
To beat the heat, we hit the pool at Oma and Opa's Country Club pool a few times. The kids and Uncle Fred enjoyed experimenting with water entry techniques.
Judy and Blase booked a deep sea fishing tour for us! It was great to get out on the Delaware Bay and catch a few. The really big ones eluded us, but what we lacked in size we made up for in numbers. We mostly caught Croakers, which croak like frogs!
Blase caught a baby shark! This is our guide, Tyler, taking it off the hook.
The cabin offered little relief from the heat and biting flies, but it was worth a shot every once in a while.Mama and baby dolphin!
We were happy that Judy's sister, Katie, and her husband, Santu came from PA to visit too!
Hannah and Fred both had birthdays coming up so Oma made their favorites - gluten free vanilla cake for Hannah and blueberry pie for Fred.
We were quite the crew by the end - Oma and Oma, Uncle Rick and Aunt Trish, Aunt Katie and Santu, Mason and I, and Fred, Zane, and Hannah. It lead to some great conversations and many laughs!
The 4 of us gave Oma a break and went to the boardwalk by ourselves one day. We played games, at lunch at the Purple Parrot, got ice cream at our favorite spot, but by the time we were ready to beach, a storm was rolling in and we weren't able to get in the water!
Of course a stopover at Dave and Doris' in DC happened as well! We enjoyed their pool and company :)
Randomly, as we were standing in line to board our flight back home at DCA my cousin Pete walked up to say hi!
