Coastal Train

In honor of our 5th anniversary we took a coastal train ride! We boarded in Garibaldi and rode to Rockaway Beach. The trip was 90 min. total with a half hour stop in Rockaway. Before we boared we checked out all the antique trains.
 And the playground.
We sat in a covered open-air car. It was windy and loud, but gave us the whole experience.

"I show you the engine Mama!"

The layover was just enough time to get our feet sandy before nearly missing the train back.

This is how Hannah spent the majority of the trip.

On the way home we stopped at the Tillamook Cheese Factory for some ice cream. Zane got Cake Batter, Mason had S'mores, and I munched on Root Beer Float. We were all highly satisfied with our choices.
The sign of a successful outting.

RiverFest

RiverFest was last weekend at Cathedral Park. We saw clowns, got balloon hats and swords, ate hamburgers, played with friends, painted, and had a great time (except for the parking ticket).

Shenanigans with Anne

My dearest friend, Anne, was with us all last week. The house now feels empty without her, but we created a bunch of great memories!

We went to Cannon Beach for a quick overnight. The waves were beautiful, the sand was perfect for building mini tide pools, the water was hypothermia inducing, and our home away from home was relaxing.
Zane had a great time running around with his new BFF.

We didn't build this, just stumbled upon it...and boy was it hard to get him out of it!

Our friend, Maggie, lives in Eugene which is only 2 hours south of Portland. Mags took the train up on Tues. so she could see the kiddos and then on Wed. Mason was brave enough to let me and Anne go down for the whole day. Thanks Mason!!  We pretty much ate and drank our way through Eugene by starting off at a cafe for lunch, heading to Sweet Cheeks winery, going directly to dinner from there, and getting ice cream before heading home. It was indulgent and glorious.
When Obama spoke at the U of O he stopped in at Prince Puckler's ice cream spot. I'm sure the mint chip was delicious, but chocolate cheesecake is my new fave.

Little Miss Hannah LOVED Anne! She gave her smiles and laughs all day.
These spinning seats make me sick just watching.

 Someone else too, apparently.
On Anne's last day we visited VooDoo Doughnuts downtown. We each got their signature Maple Bacon Bar, and an Oreo Peanut Butter, and Bavarian Cream with eyes, respectively.
Anne took this video on her phone. Sorry I don't know how to rotate it, but it's still super cute!
Until next time Anne! We miss you!!

Squirmy

Hannah and I had a chat this afternoon. The conversation was more one sided than I would have liked, but what can you do? At least she smiled and made funny faces.
Got a few more coos in this one.

2 Months

Two months already. The little bean is changing every day and thankfully seems to be coming out of the constant fuss stage. She still has her cranky moments but it's no longer as relentless as it was. Hannah has also started smiling, which makes everything better.
She also coos. If we put our faces right in front of her and coo she'll mimic our sounds back to us. Zane likes to do it to...pretty darn cute.
Blue eyes.
She had her 2 month apt. this morning and the doc is very pleased with her. At 12.5lbs she is in the 80% for weight, and 100% for height at 24 inches.

These outfits were all crocheted by Granmama (my mom) and she finally let me put her in them!
She reminds me of a Mary Poppin-esk schoolmarm in this one. Not sure why.

Playdate

I love breakfast get-togethers. I love them even more when it's awesome family who pops in and brings delicious waffles with them! We had a fun morning with Matt and Audrey over Labor Day weekend just hanging out, Zane wrangling, Hannah holding, and Ingaborg fawning (Ingie is their daughter who will join them in Nov. - we're not 100% sure that Ingaborg is the name they're going with, but it must be in their top 5 at least).

This morning we went to Playdate PDX in the Pearl because we felt like Zane deserved a special outing. He's been so good about all the attention that Hannah gets and he's just a great big bro in general. It felt good to give him some undivided attention. We had a blast. I think they greased the big slide! Zane went down alone the first time and caught air!
Z and Papa navigating the rope bridge.
Mason and I took turns going in with Zane and sitting at the table with Hannah.  Hannah watching was an easy job since she did this the entire time. Following Zane involved crawling through tunnels, dodging pillars, dancing, climbing, bending, sliding, and scooting. Nap time for everyone!
