Still With the Heat + Baseball

Waiting to pick up Zane from summer school.
Our table arrived! No more kiddie table...for anyone!
Hannah and I have been having a great time (sarcasm) getting Missouri license plates! The other day we dropped the van off after we dropped Zane off and had a 2.5 hour window of time to kill while we waited for the inspection. It was HOT, so after getting a treat at our new favorite allergy friendly breakfast spot, we walked over to the courthouse since it was near the van and had an abundance of shade...and pretty flowers and statues!

She was performing dance/music routines centered around the holidays. She covered Easter, Christmas, Valentine's Day, and St. Patrick's Day.
Father's Day! Also, very hot. We went to the Finger Lakes for some beach time and had a blast.

Zane took my phone and took a series of pictures giving a tour of his AT-AT.
Baseball has come to a close and we are very proud of Zane's progress over the course of the season. His favorite positions were pitcher, catcher, and first base because those spots get the ball the most. His hitting was powerful and consistent if he didn't allow himself to get caught up in the strike count. These photos were taken over the course of two games.
Hannah making dirt pies.

Go Angels!
Then it rained and she could make mud pies. Oh joy!

Sprinting for snacks!
He had a great team of players and coaches. He will most likely do coach pitch again next year and can't wait! I think his coaches are either moving over to softball or going to machine pitch, but we're still waiting to hear officially from them.
Pool + water squirters. It's hoooooooot.

Heat + Taekwondo Party

Temperatures have been in the mid 90s all week and we're still getting used to the stifling humidity. For a little escape, we set up the pool in the shade in the backyard. The kids had fun executing some sweet jumps!
 Zane's ninja pose.

 Ahhhh refreshments.

We wanted to try a new restaurant and ended up at D. Rowe's off of Nifong. It was a great little sports bar that just happened to be having an all you can eat crab legs special. Mason got that, of course, and the rest of the meal was spent with the kids and I on one side while he sat on the other. Our server thought it was hilarious.
One of Zane's classmates had an End of the School Year party at a Taekwondo studio. Zane had a great time and wants to sign up for classes.
 Jousting.
 Breaking boards with stomp kicks.
 Dodgeball.
Trying to shake him loose. He looked like a tree frog but managed to hang on for the full 10 seconds!

Granmama's Visit

Granmama came back from Iowa with us and she's been keeping us busy with learning 3D shapes...
 ...stretches...
...puzzles (Hannah is holding the pieces in her toes)...
 ...and dance parties.
We did take time to eat. I hope our real table comes soon as promised, so no one has to sit at the "kid table" anymore!
The massive book shelf we ordered came and we were able to unpack most of the boxes that were piled in the living room...but we had to put it together first.
The kids entertained themselves by watching videos on my phone while IN the box that it came in.

DONE! I still can't believe that Mom and I hoisted that thing into the upright position by ourselves without breaking either ourselves or the light fixture. We're awesome.
In the evenings she taught me how to read crochet patterns. I still need A LOT more work. I was basically just copying what she told me to do and not really reading the pattern (sorry, Mom).

We went and cheered Zane on. Go, Angels, go!
Mason actually got to come home at a decent time one night and we were able to go out to eat at our new favorite restaurant, Flat Branch.

Hannah and Granmama played a lot of "Minion Cards" which is played with a regular deck of cards (that have Minions as the Kings, Queens, and Jacks). When you get a Minion card you have to pick up a Minion figure and place it on the card. When all the Minions are gone the game is over. No one is really sure how it works...not even Hannah, and she's the one who was making up the rules.
Backyard barbecue, frisbee, and hanging out.

"What color your favorite?"
The cute little fairy that Granmama made.
We went and explored a bit of the MKT trail near Rocheport. It was a beautiful walk!
I thought there was a covered bridge there, but it turns out it was a stone tunnel...much cooler! The temperature dropped by 15 degrees in there and we sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star as we walked through as suggested by a fellow trail patron that morning.
Throwing rocks in the river.
