Keeping Busy

Sauvie Island never gets old...

Another round of swim lessons is behind us. They are both otters now! Hannah moved up from Penguin and Z will perfect his skills next time. He would have had it if this session was 2 weeks instead of 1. The next session begins in Oct. and they will be in the pool! They won't be in the same class though...since it starts after Zane's birthday he moves up to regular Otter, whereas Hannah will stay in Pre-Otter, which if for 3-5 year olds.
The wild fires have been affecting us this past week. They've lead to some interesting sunrises, thick haze, and a noticeable smoke smell.
Our little friends, Elsa and Jonas, turned 3 and had a fabulous birthday party a the park with giant bubble, lawn sports, and cupcakes! I love Hannah's leg flip in this one.

Zane and Leo's balloon entanglement dilemma.
 Frisbee.
 Airplane sling shots.

Right after the party, some Mama friends and I loaded up and got out of town for a night! This was the view of downtown as we passed by. Absolutely crazy.
We went to Skamania Lodge in Washington and had an absolute blast. We laughed a lot, sat in the hot tub for a very long time, enjoyed some spirits, slept in until 10am, and had a fantastic brunch before returning to reality. Cannot wait until next time!
Today we ventured to Westmoreland Park with some friends and ended up seeing FOUR more groups of friends that we know! How fun is that?!

Fishing + Baseball with Grandpa Hal & Granmama

Day 3 of our visit with Grandpa Hal and Granmama started with a trip out to Sauvie Island to the secret pond that only Zane and Papa had been to before. It was gorgeous!

Mason caught this catfish...twice. And that was all the success the fishing poles had that day.
Zane and Hannah were busy collecting tiny fish in their nets and rocks. We put all the tiny fish back before leaving, but they were fun to watch in our bucket for a little bit.

Hannah caught a lot of salad.

The shores were lined with wild blackberries and Granmama, Hannah, and I went on a mission. Most of them were shriveled or too small to taste good but found a few good ones.

The back of the van was party central!
There was a baseball lesson while Hannah napped. FYI: Today he hit one onto our neighbors roof (to the right of us) when Mason pitched it to him. A little instruction goes a long way!

 Matching hairstyles!
McMenamins Rock Creek Tavern before the Hops game.
Grandpa bought cotton candy - BEST. DAY. EVER.
 Hannah liked her "puffies."

The bleacher seats were sold out so we sat on the lawn. I think that worked out better for kids, especially after the sugar hit them!

On the last day, Mason had a 5K in Laurelhurst Park. The kids did their run again and had a great time. Zane sprinted the entire time and Hannah is just happy to be doing it. She had a huge smile and kept saying "I'm doing the run!"

I didn't manage to get a flattering race photo of Mason, but here's a duck butt.
Shortly thereafter, it was time for them to go. Thank you so much for coming! We all had a great time and the kids really miss their playmates. On the way back from the airport Zane said "Well, now who am I going to play with?" And then later, "I just want to go back to Thursday so we can do it all again." Sweet boy. Until next time!
