We Got a Dog!!

If you'll remember, at Hannah's last allergy testing 2 years ago it came back negative for a dog allergy. Shortly thereafter she broke out in hives after being nosed by a farm dog right on the face. Her reaction was so quick and strong that we backed off of the thought of dogs completely for months. Then we started getting glimmers of hope...she'd go to a friend's house who had a dog and not break out, the neighbor dog would do a sneak lick attack, or she'd snuzzle a super fuzzy farm dog with zero reaction. Hmmmm. We needed a test in our house so we could rule out outside factors like other pets in the home or anything else farm dogs might have on them. We asked our friends from a few blocks away if we could borrow their sweet Frankie for a day. Frankie is the most chill dog you've ever met! She was a perfect house guest. And since it was going so well they suggested we keep her overnight so we could really be sure!

Frankie is like Pig Pen from Peanuts with a cloud of fur around her. No problem! She also drools and licks. No problem! She slept in Hannah's bed. No problem! Woo-Hoo!!
Since it was Labor Day weekend, we went to play mini golf and talk about what kind of dog we would get and when and what we would name it. So much dog talk! I have no idea how my parents endured me wanting a dog for months when I was little. So constant!
Zane after his hole in one!

Mason had to "work late" on Thursday. I took the the kids to Zane's soccer practice and all the while tried to act normal while I knew there would be a little doggy waiting for them when we got home!! We shopped around online and found a few that we thought would be a good fit, but in the end one stuck out more than the others and we set it up. Here's Hannah having no idea what's about to happen!
The pup started barking when we came in the back door and it was go time from there!

He is a one year old Maltese/Shih tzu mix and hypoallergenic (just in case!). We renamed him Ozzy and he seems to know it already! At the moment, he is very attached to Mason...we think because Mason is the one who picked him up from his other house. Ozzy follows him around and would prefer to be as close to his face as possible at all times. He likes to try to sit on his chest and stare intently into his eyes...always inching closer. It's hilarious...if you're not Mason!

His expressive eyebrows and mustache crack us up.
Zane and I took him to the dog park on Sunday and he met an Irish Wolf Hound!
 He's a good boy.
