Sporting

This fall is a busy one as far as kid activities go! First up, Hannah's hip hop dance class. She is loving it. The teacher is great at sneaking actual lessons into what they think is "free dance" time.
Working on crossovers.

After class in the lobby of the Peninsula Community Center. This lion is always there and today we needed a photo (she has a Starburst in her mouth).
Next up, duel swimming! This is the last week of them together and then Zane graduates to the older class. I love that the pool is heated and indoors! In this one Zane is working on his back float with the teacher and Hannah has her arms in the air.

I'm so proud of how far they've both progressed! Hannah has made a breakthrough and won't keep her head above water and is constantly throwing herself under. The poor teacher sounds like a broken record with "Hannah get on the wall, Hannah, what are you supposed to be doing right now?, Hannah, stay up!" The teacher pulled her up the other day and told her that she can't go under all the time or the life guard would jump in after her. One of my favorite movies of all time is Garden State and Hannah's swimming right now reminds me of the scene where Zach Braff tries to swim...anyone seen it?! I try not to crack up when I'm watching her.

 Pretty face.
Zane has also made a breakthrough with his arm circles! He's so close!! Get some side breathing going and he'll be off!

And lastly, basketball! Zane's first game ever was tonight and they did great! It's a league through Parks and Rec for K-2nd grade. Each team is a mix of kids of different ages and from different schools. He got lucky and has a kid from his class on his team, which is nice. It seems like a lot of these kids have played before and I'm getting the feeling that they're assuming Zane is older than he is. This was his 3rd time ever on a basketball court...2 practices and then this game. He enjoyed himself and is excited for more! Zane is on the green team, the Ducks (I'm guessing a nod to the Oregon Ducks) and wearing a black head band.

My point and shoot camera has taken a turn for the worse and any shots with movement are coming out blurry. Not good. The action shots of Z didn't work out, but I liked these of him cheering :)

Pumpkins!

The Pumpkin Patch treated us well once again! We came away with 3 pumpkins, 2 happy kids, and 8 dry feet.
We met up with the family of Hannah's buddy from daycare. Here she is scouting the landscape for her.
 Found 'em!
Hannah lucked out and got a ride in their wagon.

Hannah was unhappy because she hadn't found her perfect pumpkin yet.

 Found it!

Zane stops to make faces at the girls.
The hayride back. Zane's pumpkin didn't take the bumps well and got a huge crack. The workers were cool about it and we were able to go pick one from the store instead and Zane was just fine with that.
Hannah and Haven being wacky!

Pumpkin carving party at our friend's house. Both kids wanted spooky designs this year. I'll get a pic of all of them together when it stops pouring!

Big Bubbles

What to do on a beautiful fall day other than ride bikes to the park for some big bubble action! We had some trouble at first figuring out how to keep them from popping, but eventually we got into a groove. Incidentally, if you want to make new friends or attract a crowd at a park, this is the activity you need! And they're really fun to take photos of.
