My phone was filled with photos like this one after she found the selfie stick buried in a drawer.
We made hot cocoa bombs! They turned out so good - they looked good and were tasty - but let me tell you, that was not an easy task!! So many steps that can all go wrong! But we persevered - whew!Hannah had a Recorder Extravaganza at school to showcase the work they've been doing in music integration.
The art piece at the Extravaganza was a compilation of Phoenixes (the school mascot) that were crafted by paper mâché by the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. It looked really cool!! Hannah and a friend made the plumes on the large bird on top!
We celebrated with Sparky's ice cream afterwards before catching the second half of Zane's basketball game.
The 7th grade boys finished 2nd for the season!! The final game was within 5 points and it was a hard loss for the team. They played well and had an excellent season, but that's not what they wanted to hear in the moment. They're already planning on an undefeated season next year.
We went to Shelter Gardens to see their light display. We walked around the paths and loved the lights around each turn. This swan was in the area where the koi normally are.
Mason was cracking me up because his eyes didn't see the elf right away and he thought this was a dove at an odd angle.
While we were out we swung by the Magic Tree on the way home.
Hannah's class made gingerbread houses from scratch on their last day before break. From scratch meaning there are not interior structures, like milk cartons, keeping them up, it's all their architecture.
I especially like the car in the garage on Hannah's and the sunbathing gummy bear on the porch.
And break! The pups are loving all the extra people time they're getting.
Hannah learned Jingle Bells on the guitar!
Mason kept mentioning that he couldn't find a Vader Johan ornament for our tree so Hannah and I made him one! For those who don't know, Vader Johan is a Christmas tale told on a cartoon called Big Mouth, and while I'm not a fan of the actual show, I do enjoy watching THIS clip every year.
The annual icing of sugar cookies was made easier by putting the icing in bottles this year. I love it! Decorating and clean up were amazing!! Next year I will make sure that we have the food coloring we need beforehand...but I did like the purple snowmen!Santa came!
Hannah was excited about her Rumple blanket from Santa and a game for her Switch called Splatoon.
Santa brought Zane a Lego Lamborghini!
Rue really wanted to take her new dinosaur out into the snow, but toys that go out there usually don't come back in so it wasn't allowed and she looked sad (but then trotted to the living room to chew on him some more).
We bundled up in the afternoon on Christmas Day to go to the tiny park to check out the frozen pond. We drove over there because even though it was warmer than it's been in days at a whopping 17 degrees, it was still too cold to walk there, play, and then walk back.
We had fun slip sliding around and "skipping" rocks on the ice because they made a weird noise.
No one was arrested before, during, or after this photo was taken.
